What esimtips is

esimtips is an independent travel eSIM resource. We publish three types of content:

• Destination guides — eSIM comparisons for specific countries, evaluating providers on network coverage, throttling, setup friction, top-up flexibility, and price per usable GB.
• Provider reviews — independent reviews of every major travel eSIM brand, with the same five evaluation criteria applied across the board.
• Practical guides — step-by-step installation walkthroughs for iPhone and Android, compatibility checks, and explainers for travelers new to eSIMs.

**No provider is ranked higher because of a commercial relationship — because no commercial relationships exist.**

Why this site exists

**Most "best eSIM for [country]" guides on the internet are written by sites earning affiliate commissions.** The provider that ranks #1 is usually the one paying the highest commission per signup — not the one offering the best plan for the destination. Coverage data gets glossed over. Throttling caveats disappear. "Unlimited" is presented at face value even when a 2 GB/day Fair Usage Policy makes it functionally a metered plan.

**esimtips exists to be the opposite of that.** We don't earn anything when readers buy from any provider, so our rankings can be honest about which provider actually wins for which traveler. Sometimes we recommend a smaller brand over a household name because the math says so. Sometimes we tell you the cheapest option isn't worth the FUP throttling. Sometimes we point readers to a competitor's article when it covers something better than we do.

**That kind of editorial freedom is structurally impossible for affiliate-funded sites — it's why we built this one.**

How esimtips is different from affiliate eSIM sites

Five concrete differences from typical affiliate-funded eSIM comparison sites:

• Rankings driven by data, not commissions. Affiliate sites rank providers by commission rate. We rank by price per usable GB, network coverage, and Fair Usage Policy transparency. The top pick changes by destination because the math changes by destination.
• We name the throttle thresholds. Most "unlimited" plans throttle after a daily cap of 1–5 GB. Affiliate sites avoid mentioning this. We publish exact thresholds where providers disclose them, and explicitly call out when they don't (Holafly, for example).
• We recommend competitors when they win. Our Japan guide recommends Travelsim Asia (no affiliate program) over Airalo (large affiliate program) because Travelsim Asia connects to all four Japanese carriers. An affiliate site couldn't make that call.
• No tracking parameters on outbound links. Every link to a provider is clean. No `?ref=`, no UTM tags, no commission cookies. You buy from the provider directly with no intermediary.
• We update when prices change, not when commissions change. Affiliate articles often go years without updates because re-verification doesn't earn money. We re-verify quarterly because accuracy is the entire point.

**The result: an editorial product instead of a marketing funnel.**

• Same criteria for every provider. Network coverage, throttling transparency, setup friction, top-up flexibility, and price per usable GB. We apply these consistently — no provider is ranked higher because of a relationship.
• We say when "unlimited" isn't unlimited. Most "unlimited" travel eSIM plans throttle after a Fair Usage Policy. We name the throttle thresholds when providers publish them — and call out when they don't.

How we make money

**We don't. We don't plan to.** esimtips.com runs on a free hosting plan, with no affiliate links, no sponsored placements, no paid reviews, and no advertising. The site is a labor of love — built to be a genuinely independent reference for travelers, regularly updated as prices and policies change, and that's all it'll ever be.

Verification and updates

**Every article carries a "Last updated" date sourced from frontmatter** — when prices or policies change, we update the article and bump the date. All data comes from publicly available sources, primarily the providers' own websites. Pricing is flagged for re-verification quarterly, and provider reviews are refreshed when major changes happen.
